what to expect...
Joia Improv for Anxiety is combines therapy techniques and the techniques of the mother of improv - Viola Spolin - to help you learn and grow.
We will start with a gentle introduction to some improv games designed to be approachable for clients who are nervous about starting improv. There will be a mental health professional present at all times. We work very hard to make people feel comfortable and confident - but all participation is of course voluntary and you are welcome to take time out as needed. We will move on to games and scenes which start to illustrate some of the reasons we get stuck in anxious thinking patterns and behaviours.
About Iain Jordan
I am a psychiatrist and therapist with 23 years of clinical experience and a love for improv – both as a performer and for how performance has enriched my life. I have developed a number of curricula which draw direct lines between the principles of improv acting - pioneered by the mother of Improv, Viola Spolin - and real world concepts and skills.
I also work with a number of health technology companies with a mission to bring high quality mental health care to underserved communities at scale.
I am available for speaking engagements and individual and team coaching.
